Classic Aero-TV At OSH21: John McBean Updates Us On The 21st Century Kitfox

From Oshkosh 2021 (YouTube Version): Kitfox’ McBean: “...New And Exciting Things Coming Out”

Kitfox President & CEO John McBean gives us a quick rundown on their Kitfox Series 7 trim packages and recent updates at EAA AirVenture 2021. Builders can choose from three trim levels: The Super Sport, the Speedster, and the STi, the STOL specialist of the trio. No matter the trim, each Kitfox retains the trademark folding wings, Nose and tailwheel compatibility, and short takeoff performance.

McBean shares his company’s newest offering, “a pre-wired harness, along with the instrument panel and the equipment that it populates with, and we use Garmin, so basically the person can have a single screen G3X touch, along with the radios, autopilots, as options. It’s a complete wire harness with panel, so it feeds into the fuselage and it’s custom length and sized for the [aircraft] which includes the connectors for the lights, the magnetometers, the taillights, it’s all there. So it’s a pretty comprehensive kit that can be put in literally in a day.”

He leaves us with a hint at upcoming releases from Kitfox. “There’s a couple things we’ve been working on for the last few years, not anything in the new model arena, just new and exciting things coming out.”
