Full Sim Of The Aircraft-Specific Flight Deck On A Personal
Computer
Aerosim Technologies, the
recognized leader in low cost, hi-fidelity simulation software
training products within the aviation industry, announced Sunday
that one of the world's leading international airlines has
completed in-plant acceptance of the Airbus A330 Virtual Flight
Deck (VFD).
With the completion of this milestone, the airline's training staff
will begin using the Virtual Flight Deck in their training
footprint. This reflects significant progress within a larger
project of providing full systems courseware and Virtual Flight
Deck environments for each of the carrier's fleets.
The Virtual Flight Deck (VFD) is a full simulation of the
aircraft specific flight deck brought to life on a PC. With the
VFD, pilot and maintenance technician trainees can scan, view and
operate all panels, controls, indicators and displays within the
flight deck. The VFD provides access to the entire flight
deck using a single screen. It allows real-time interaction with
the aircraft systems in a complete free-play training environment.
Trainees can master preflight checks, automated flight, takeoff,
climb, cruise, descent, approach and landing procedures as well as
non-normal and emergency procedures. All aircraft systems are
fully simulated in an integrated environment within the flight
deck.
Aerosim President, Dave Rapley said "We are thrilled with our
partnership and pleased to work with one of the biggest airlines in
the world."
Aerosim tells ANN the name of the airline is being withheld due
to confidentiality requirements.
