NASA Awards Aeronautics, Space Programs, Policies Study Contract

NAS Will Provide Access To Scientists, Engineers, Academics As Resources

NASA has awarded a sole source contract to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) in Washington to conduct studies and evaluations in support of the agency’s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters.

This is an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, cost-no-fee contract with a maximum ordering value of approximately $30.1 million, and a five-year performance period that began Aug. 17.

NAS will conduct studies to address questions of national importance relating to aeronautics, and space programs and policies. The contractor will provide NASA the means to access an independent pool of scientists and engineers from industry, academia and other government agencies to conduct the studies and to staff advisory committees. These committees will provide regular communications forums for the agency and associated science, technology and aeronautics communities, and oversee advisory studies and workshops carried out by NAS on NASA’s behalf.

The work will be performed at the contractor’s facility in Washington.
