70 Days (...and Counting) Until Aviation Comes Together To Celebrate Our Common Bond
Oshkosh is coming up fast... and as usual, the ANN crew has spent the last few months figuring out what we'll do this year to 'Raise the Bar' (as we have every year)... and this year, we have a doozie!
In addition to the bazillion other projects and programs we are undertaking (or so it seems), ANN, Aero-TV/Airborne and Kindred Spirit Press are now committed to a NEW addition to our Oshkosh coverage roster this year. After a stunningly successful (even beyond what we expected/hoped) program in which we offered a much abbreviated FREE 'Mini' version of the SportPlane Resource Guide for LSA enthusiasts, we decided that this was a model that deserved special consideration for Oshkosh.
After some extensive thought and brainstorming, and in kind tribute to the "Yearbooks" that used to show up on the GA scene SO many decades ago, we've decided that this year's big addition to our Oshkosh coverage will be a FREE EBook (The ANN 2014 Oshkosh Yearbook... or something to that effect) that will be produced, on site, containing the best pictures we take of the event, some associated commentary, some stories that outline the nature and allure of Oshkosh and EAA, as well as what occurred this year, and some final chapters about the most notable planes, programs and products to be found in 2014 at Wittman Field.
In addition to all that, we plan some stories remembering Paul Poberezny (based on decades of outstanding memories--especially the 1981 story where Paul met me, right on time and as promised, after I flew halfway across the US by Ultralight) and some affiliated efforts.
Even with all that, ANN will invite our readers and viewers to contribute to this amazing project. Those wishing to contribute stories (especially reminiscences about Paul), photographs and other content are urged to do so no later than August 3rd so that we can get this project into people's devices ASAP. Please be advised that by submitting any intellectual property to ANN, that you are giving us the right to use such works for The ANN 2014 Oshkosh Yearbook and affiliated properties (including the potential of some inclusion in future Yearbooks). ALL such work will be credited accordingly.
If you love Oshkosh, this will be a GREAT keepsake; if you miss Oshkosh, this will help you catch up on all that you missed; and if you have no idea what Oshkosh is about, this Yearbook will open your eyes... and again, its FREE!
ANN will have a sign-up page available within a few days at www.kindredspirit.com (our book publishing partner company) and we welcome YOUR ideas for features, content, photos and other ideas for inclusion in this year's Yearbook. With the extraordinary staff we have assembled for this year's Oshkosh coverage (including a few high-profile Guest Editors), we have little doubt that this will be every bit as exciting as our many other Oshkosh offerings.
