NBAA Names First Recipient Of Dale 'Potsy' McBurney Aviation Scholarship

Award Honors The Memory Of Former Business Aviation Flight Attendant

The NBAA Charities has named Christina Henderlong as the first recipient of the Dale “Potsy” McBurney Aviation Scholarship. The award will be presented at NBAA's Flight Attendants/Flight Technicians Conference in Tucson, AZ, June 30 to July 2.

Henderlong is an executive flight attendant with the U.S. Air Force, based in St. Louis, MO. She is responsible for passengers aboard a Boeing Business Jet 737, including various government officials and dignitaries, and serves as the mission scheduling manager for planning international missions, visas, passports and flight crew coordination. Henderlong is an instructor flight attendant, holds a Culinary Institute of America ProChef certification, and is a member of NBAA and Women in Aviation International.

Henderlong plans to use the training she receives through the McBurney Scholarship funds to help the Air Force Distinguished Visitor Airlift mission promote awareness and appreciation of the role of the flight attendant in business aviation aircraft.

NBAA Charities, in coordination with the Trust Committee for Dale "Potsy" McBurney and the NBAA Flight Attendants Committee, established the Dale "Potsy" McBurney Aviation Scholarship to benefit business aviation professionals seeking opportunities to advance their careers.

The scholarship was created to honor the memory of former business aviation flight attendant Dale "Potsy" McBurney, who was dedicated to promoting the role of the cabin crewmember. He was a highly regarded and requested flight attendant, a recognized and respected trainer and industry specialist, an executive for a FAR 91 flight department and a valued member of the NBAA Flight Attendants Committee.

Applications for the 2016 Dale “Potsy” McBurney Aviation Scholarship will be available in fall 2015. NBAA Charities offers a number of other scholarships and programs to promote professional development and business aviation careers.
