Conflict? What Conflict?

EAA Sees No Hassle With Changes To FAR 99

EAA does not anticipate any recreational aviation flight operation conflicts with FAA’s recent update to the Air Traffic Security Controls for Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) 99. The final rule, published in the Federal Register on March 30, becomes effective on April 29, 2004.

This revision clearly shows the increased roles of the Department of Defense, federal security and/or intelligence agencies, and law enforcement agencies in determining and advising the FAA in all matters related to the security of the National Airspace System and the aircraft that fly in it. Notices to Airmen (NOTAM) that establish flight security procedures for the Washington (DC) Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) remain in effect.

Since national security procedures are subject to constant change, EAA will continue to monitor, on a daily basis, the effect these changes will have on the entire general aviation industry as we all balance our freedom of choice to fly with the nation’s security needs.
