Angel Flight Steps Up In The Face Of Tropical Storm

Offering Free Flights To Emergency Responders

With the approach of Tropical Storm Katrina, potentially strengthening into a hurricane, Angel Flight Southeast, a non-profit organization, will once again make available to emergency service agencies to assist with pre- and post-hurricane disaster relief efforts.

The program, started in cooperation with federal emergency management agencies, utilizes an active duty roster of hundreds of private pilots, each of whom provides his/her own aircraft and pays for fuel and other expenses to assist with the transport of small priority cargo or key personnel to local, regional or national disaster locations.

In 2004, Angel Flight coordinated several dozen air missions to fly blood and key emergency services personnel to areas struck by four devastating hurricanes. The non-profit group also coordinated more than a dozen similar missions this year in the aftermath of Hurricane Dennis.
