Gulfstream Luton Approved To Work On G280 And G650

U.K. Service Center Earns European Aviation Safety Agency Approval

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp.’s service center at London Luton Airport in the United Kingdom recently earned approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to perform comprehensive maintenance services on the Gulfstream G280. The facility earned EASA approval to work on the Gulfstream G650 in 2013. The super mid-size G280 and ultra-large-cabin, ultra-long-range G650 are Gulfstream’s newest aircraft. They entered service in November and December 2012, respectively.

“Gulfstream Luton’s ability to work on our newest aircraft brings an added level of convenience to G650 and G280 operators based in Europe," said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream Product Support. "With our factory-trained technicians and the addition of G650- and G280-specific tooling, we are well-equipped to meet our customers’ maintenance needs.”

The 75,000-square-foot/6,968-square-meter Gulfstream Luton hangar can accommodate 10 to 12 aircraft, depending on the mix of large-cabin and mid-cabin models. Gulfstream’s fleet in Europe, the Middle East and Africa has grown to more than 340 aircraft.

Adjacent to the hangar is a 10,000-square-foot/929-square-meter parts and materials warehouse. It is currently stocked with more than $43 million in inventory.

Gulfstream Luton is a certified EASA and FAA repair station and holds EASA Part 21 design organization approval, which means its technicians can install and repair avionics equipment and cabin interiors for Gulfstream aircraft registered in European Union countries. The facility also holds 13 other civil aviation authority approvals, including authorizations to work on Gulfstream aircraft registered in Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Nigeria, Tanzania and Turkey.

Gulfstream Luton technicians service more than 100 aircraft monthly at their facility or on location elsewhere in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
