AD 2021-13-12 Prompted By Reports Of Corrosion On The Passenger Door Internal Structure
The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Bombardier, Inc., Model CL-600-1A11 (600), CL-600-2A12 (601), and CL-600-2B16 (601-3A, 601-3R and 604 Variants) airplanes.
This AD was prompted by reports of corrosion on the passenger door internal structure of in-service airplanes. This AD requires revising the existing maintenance or inspection program, as applicable, to incorporate new or more restrictive airworthiness limitations. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective September 9, 2021.
Supplementary Information: Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA), which is the aviation authority for Canada, has issued TCCA AD CF-2016-37, dated November 25, 2016 (also referred to as the Mandatory Continuing Airworthiness Information, or the MCAI), to correct an unsafe condition for all Bombardier, Inc., Model CL-600-1A11 (600), CL-600-2A12 (601), and CL-600-2B16 (601-3A, 601-3R, and 604 Variants) airplanes. You may examine the MCAI in the AD docket on the internet at https://www.regulations.gov by searching for and locating Docket No. FAA-2020-1181.
The FAA issued a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) to amend 14 CFR part 39 by adding an AD that would apply to all Bombardier, Inc., Model CL-600-1A11 (600), CL-600-2A12 (601), and CL-600-2B16 (601-3A, 601-3R and 604 Variants) airplanes. The NPRM published in the Federal Register on March 17, 2021 (86 FR 14551). The NPRM was prompted by reports of corrosion on the passenger door internal structure of in-service airplanes caused by an accumulation of moisture under the epoxy ramp. The NPRM proposed to require revising the existing maintenance or inspection program, as applicable, to incorporate new or more restrictive airworthiness limitations. The FAA is issuing this AD to address corrosion on the passenger door internal structure and consequent loss of the structural integrity of the forward passenger door. See the MCAI for additional background information.
