Alto Aviation Introduces New Base Receptacles

Sweet Sounds and Innovation

Alto Aviation is a Massachusetts-based company specializing in premium aircraft cabin audio and cabin management systems. The company is a purveyor of digital surround sound, Immersive 3D audio, and VIP seat optimization solutions; PA/Chime, Bluetooth audio, and Cadence Cabin Management systems; and direct replacement passenger controls and cabin control apps.

Alto Aviation’s cabin audio systems are line fit equipment for most major OEMs. What’s more, the entirety of the company’s products are FAA TSO-C139 approved.

To ensure true acoustic customization and optimized audio quality, Alto’s cabin systems engineers tune each aircraft cabin onsite at over 150 authorized dealers around the globe.

Worldwide, upwards of five-thousand business aircraft are currently equipped with Alto Aviation components. Alto also manufactures precision sheet metal and machined parts for aerospace and multiple high-standard industries.

On 24 April 2023, Alto Aviation introduced its new and proprietary series of base receptacles developed specifically for the company’s articulating tablet holders. The new product was launched at the New Products Introduction Session at the 66th Annual Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) Convention & Trade Show currently underway at Orlando, Florida’s Convention Center.

Held yearly for purpose of providing an open forum and educational, marketing, and networking opportunities to avionics professionals, the AEA International Convention & Trade Show is the general aviation avionics industry’s premier event. Since 1957, the AEA Convention has occasioned the world’s largest gathering of general aviation avionics manufacturers, distributors, and government-certified repair stations. The event is also the platform of choice for the introduction of new avionics products and services.

Availing itself of the latter, Alto Aviation has developed and premiered a series of five unique base receptacles with options that include:

  • Base only: An option well-suited to updating aging Rosen bases or adding a new base to a new location within a host aircraft.
  • Base with a holder for a single USB charging port without a decorative bezel.
  • Base with a holder for dual USB charging ports without a decorative bezel.

The antecedent styles work well within a pocket door designed to shield the base from the cabin.

  • Top-mounted bezel with a single USB charging port.
  • Top-mounted bezel with dual USB charging ports.

The two aforementioned bezels provide decorative means by which to present base receptacles with USB ports. The ports allow direct charging of local Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs). The type of USB charging ports is configurable. The bases are compatible with former Rosen units when modifying existing locations to accommodate new bases with bezels. Subject arrangement allows an infinitely variable articulating PED holder with numerous mounting and charging options.

Alto Aviation vice-president of sales and marketing Kevin Hayes stated: “We are thrilled to introduce this new product at AEA. ALTO is always thinking of simple and effective ways to increase the passengers’ wellness and ease their entertainment experience while increasing the aircraft's value. Personal electronic devices have changed the way we approach cabin entertainment integration, and we are happy to contribute to our industry with this new solution.”

For the duration of 2023’s AEA International Convention & Trade Show—24 through 27 April—Alto Aviation will exhibit at booth # 802. Visitors to Alto Aviation’s display will enjoy personalized demonstrations of Alto MySound, the company’s latest seat-centric audio technology for business aviation, and a full display of the Cadence Cabin Management System for business aircraft.
