AD: Bombardier, Inc., Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2019-12-17

PRODUCT: Certain Bombardier, Inc., Model DHC-8-102, -103, and -106 airplanes; Model DHC-8-200 series airplanes; and Model DHC-8- 300 series airplanes.

ACTION: Final Rule.

SUMMARY: This AD was prompted by the reported loss of an elevator spring tab balance weight prior to takeoff.

This AD requires inspecting the two balance weights and the two hinge arms on each elevator spring tab, and corrective actions if necessary.

DATES: This AD is effective August 12, 2019.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD affects 47 airplanes of U.S. registry. Operators may incur the following costs in order to comply with this AD:

Required Action

  • Labor: 2 work-hours × $85 per hour = $170 per airplane.

On-Condition Costs

  • Labor: Up to 18 work-hours × $85 per hour = $1,530 per airplane.
