Tornado Alley Turbo has been at the forefront of
state-of-the-art turbonormalizing systems for such aircraft as the
TCM I0-520 or I0-550 powered Cessna 185s and Bonanzas. Each system
converts normally aspirated engines into turbocharged engines,
providing the same 29" or 30" manifold pressure available at sea
level up to 20,000 feet.
Designed with maximum fuel efficiency in mind, Tornado Alley
Turbo systems incorporate GAMIjectors, providing significant speed
increase while maintaining cool cylinder head temperatures.
GAMIjectors and TurboGAMIjectors are specially designed fuel
injection nozzles that deliver specific amounts of fuel to each
individual cylinder. Engineered to compensate for the fuel-to-air
imbalance seen in standard factory injectors, GAMIjectors alters
the fuel-to-air ratio to ensure that each cylinder operates with
more uniformity. By running the engine lean of peak (LOP), the
overall engine operation runs dramatically smoother, cleaner, and
cooler. The result is a remarkable decrease in fuel consumption, up
to 2 GPH in fuel savings, compared to normally aspirated
engines.
Recently, Tornado Alley Turbo announced a new electronic
wastegate turbo density-normalized controller for Cirrus SR-22
aircraft, deemed "TDN ™" to signify that the engine is Turbo
Density-Normalized ™. The system will be the first part of a
series of new, electronic engine controls being developed for
Tornado Alley Turbo for use on a wide range of general aviation
aircraft.
The TDN ™ smart controller will feature automatic
adjustment of mass airflow to the engine to compensate for
“hot day” conditions. In addition, the system will
feature the codenamed "World Peace" component (details have not yet
been released) that will provide substantially improved LOP
operation of the engine to ensure adequate engine mass flow,
allowing the pilot to obtain near maximum continuous engine
horsepower.
