One Of ANN's Own Honored At 2006 Wisconsin Aviation Conference

Rose Dorcey Presented With Blue Light Award

Several announcements came out of Green Bay, WI during the last two weeks. First, Brett Favre will play one more year as quarterback for the Green Bay Packers.

Another major announcement -- and one far less likely to cause emotional debate among cheeseheads -- came from the 51st Annual Wisconsin Aviation Conference, where several awards were presented -- including the Distinguished Service Award, Person of the Year Award, Lifetime Achievement, and the Blue Light Award.

The Blue Light Award is presented to persons in the media who have distinguished themselves by their excellent reporting on Wisconsin aviation... and we're happy to report the 2006 Blue Light Award recipient is Rose Dorcey, long-time contributor to Aero-News Network.

Dave Jensen, Dane County Regional Airport Deputy Director and Wisconsin Airport Management Association (WAMA) board member made the award presentation.

"No one has ever received as many nominations for any WAMA award as Rose did," said Jensen, before sharing excerpts from a number of her nominations.

Chuck Swain, long time owner of Beaver Aviation in Juneau, WI was one of those quoted. Chuck said, "She is brilliant and clever and a consummate reporter and is quite possibly the best thing that has ever happened to General Aviation news reporting in Wisconsin."

Rose is more than just an ANN reporter; she is active in local, state, and national aviation organizations. Rose has been a licensed pilot for 14 years, holding the Private Pilot and Instrument Rating. She has belonged to the EAA, AOPA, and the International 99's for 15 years or better. Rose is also a member of Women in Aviation and is on the board of directors for the University of Wisconsin Flying Club.

Rose (above) currently serves as president of the Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame, as well as the newsletter editor. She is also the media chairperson for the Wisconsin Rapids Children's Miracle Network Balloon Rally.

In addition to her ANN duties, Rose also writes for several other news outlets.

"Rose is a prolific and talented writer and regularly contributes to the Middleton Times Tribune, Midwest Aviation Business Journal, the Midwest Flyer, Aero News Network and, in non aviation magazines Cycle USA, Cycle News and the American Motorcyclist Magazine," said Swain.

Congratulations Rose! You make us proud.
