Creates Advanced Air Mobility Tech Group
Jaunt Air Mobility has announced its upcoming merger with the AIRO group, a composite of six aerospace businesses focused in the AAM market. The group offers commercial, robotics, unmanned systems, and multi-modal aircraft and avionics under its umbrella.
Jaunt has found its niche in the global eVTOL AAM market, specifically when using its patented Slow Rotor Compound (SRC) technology. SRC slows the rotation of the rotor once aloft, reducing drag, vibration, and noise while in cruise. With a streamlined fuselage, and efficient wing, the Journey, Jaunt’s entry into the AAM market, is said to have nearly “imperceptible” rotor noise. Standing apart from the other entrants in the market, the streamlined, lithe form is part helicopter and part glider. Leveraging the best of both worlds, Jaunt hopes their design will win the upcoming AAM market battle for urban aviation dominance. The merger should help further refine the concept with the increased resources, technology, and intellectual property in the Ario fold.
“Airo has existing revenue in its current civilian and military operations and has historically reinvested earnings into Independent Research and Development (IRAD). Therefore, additional capital required to produce fully operational eVTOL aircraft is substantially reduced to our advantage compared with our competitors. The current market cap of companies in the eVTOL space and urban air mobility platforms are very significant. Aiero additionally delivers diversified services across the UAM, AAM, avionics, and defense marketplace.” said Chirinjeev Kathuria, Executive Chairman of Airo.
“Jaunt is pleased to become part of the Airo Group. The combined companies address many segments of the advanced aviation market and will pursue a public offering. It is undoubtedly one of the most exciting times in aerospace,“ said Martin Peryea, CEO/CTO of Jaunt Air Mobility.
