SkyScopes Plans Growth In North Dakota

Hiring To Fill Multiple Pilot Positions In Minot And Other Offices

Grand Forks ND-based SkyScopes is in hiring mode. The company is looking for pilots for its Minot, ND and other offices to facilitate its expansion plans.

The Jamestown Sun reports that the company has recently opened a new subsidiary, SkySkopes Oil & Gas, and the hiring is being conducted to fill those positions. SkySkopes has focused on the energy sector since establishing its Minot operation, and flies multiple types of unmanned aircraft for inspection of transmission and distribution lines, engineering and other applications.

The city of Minot gave SkyScopes a $375,100 incentive package in the form of a forgivable loan 2017, which it used to purchase equipment and define its core business model. As a condition of the incentive, SkySkopes has been required to meet three employment benchmarks totalling 15 full-time positions in three years. Two of those benchmarks have been met, according to the company.

"We are convinced that the UAS industry is one where slow and steady can win the race," said Matt Duley, president and founder of SkySkopes. "We believe that growing similarly to the rates of the technology improvements and the regulatory relaxation is a winning formula."
