A New Twist On 'Hold My Beer'

Australian Man Checks A Single Can On A Qantas Flight

A passenger traveling from Melbourne, Australia to Perth decided that really the only thing he'd need at his destination was a can ... called a "tinny" in Strine ... of Emu Export beer.

But since he couldn't carry the tinny on the plane with him, he checked it. A single can of beer.

An somewhat to his surprise, it was the first item on the baggage claim carousel at Perth.

The website news.com.au reports that the man, referred to only as Dean, said one of his friends works at the airport, and they hatched the idea together "as a laugh." Dean said he actually did not expect to see the can of beer at the other end of the flight.

Dean told The Guardian newspaper that it appeared the Qantas staff enjoyed his homage to the Emu Export, as it was the first item off the plane.

There was no word whether Dean actually drank his beer, which likely traveled in a pressurized baggage compartment rather than just in the hold.

We're waiting to see if maybe the stunt shows up in an Emu Export television commercial ...
