Airlines Affected By Tornado Damage Successfully Moved To Other
Concourses
The recovery of operations from tornado damage on April 22
continues to accelerate at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport
which expects to airlines to operate their full flight schedules on
Tuesday. After a 24 hour closure following the storm, 12 out of 13
airlines at Lambert resumed operations on Easter Sunday for 76
percent of normal operations. American Airlines returned to service
Monday and the Airport believes flight capacity will hit a 90
percent target for the day. Cape Airlines will begin flying on
Tuesday.
The C Concourse, which was heavily
damaged by the tornado Friday night, will remain closed
indefinitely. The Airport has successfully relocated affected
airlines to previously closed concourses. Frontier and AirTran are
now operating out of the B Concourse. American and Cape Air are
operating out of the D Concourse. The Airport is working with its
retail and food concession partners to bring gift shops and
restaurant services to those newly re-opened concourses as quickly
as possible.
In other developments, Lambert extended its post-storm policy to
waive parking fees for customers who exit any of the terminal
garages and the other Airport-owned Super Park parking lots (A, B,
C and D) by Monday night. Parking charges will resume Tuesday at
0600. Only customers with vehicles damaged by the storm will have
their parking charges waived after Monday.
Super Park lots B and D remain closed except for returning
passengers due to the extensive damage to vehicles during the
storm. Those lots will re-open as soon as vehicle and storm debris
are cleared and parking systems are brought back online.
