Urgent CASA AD: Dassault

Applicability: Falcon 2000EX aeroplanes with serial number (S/N) 06, 28 through 90, 93 and 95.

Requirement:
  1. Perform an engine fire detection integrity check in accordance with Dassault Aviation Service Bulletin (SB) F2000E X-137 dated 23 November 2006 or later EASA approved revision.
  2. If, as a result of the Requirement 1 integrity check, if either one or both the LH or the RH system is (are) found to be incorrect, check the actual resistance of both detectors of the incorrect system(s) on the affected engine(s) in accordance with (SB) F2000E X-137 or later EASA approved revision.
  3. Replace any detector that is determined to be faulty during the Requirement 2 resistance check.

Note: EASA Emergency AD 2006-0356-E refers.

Compliance: For Requirement 1 - No later than 5 January 2007. For Requirements 2 and 3 - Before further flight after either the Requirement 1 or 2 check, as applicable.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 4 December 2006.

Background: The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has advised that troubleshooting of a "ENG 1 FIRE DETECT FAIL" CAS message that occurred on an in-service aircraft revealed that the detector threshold tolerances could not identify a single failure of one engine fire detector loop out of the two present on each engine. The fire detection system is therefore not correctly monitored, and its integrity is not guaranteed at all times. The aim of this Directive is to verify the fire detection system integrity by mandating a one time inspection and, if necessary, the replacement of faulty detector pending further modification of the monitoring system.
