Beech 18 Arrives At Kansas Air Museum For Restoration

Was Built In Wichita In 1946, Saw Long Military Service

A Beech 18 that was built in Wichita, KS in 1946 will remain in the state into perpetuity after restoration by the Kansas Air Museum.

The aircraft was donated to the Museum by a board member, according to radio station KFDI. Bill Lindsay has purchased the plane last year and had intended to restore it himself, but the project turned out to be more than he really wanted to tackle.

The plane was moved Thursday from Westport Airport near Pawnee, KS to the museum. KAS executive director Lon Smith told the station that acquiring the plane was "a real coup." He said it is the same model as the aircraft once flown by Olive Ann Beech.

Smith said that when it is finished, it will be painted to resemble Ms. Beech's aircraft.

But we all know that such restoration projects take time, and there is no set timeline for the airplane's completion.
