A Win For The Good Guys?

Joint Effort Keeps CA Airport Open

Local pilots and AOPA working together to protect Oceanside Airport (OKB) from closure have led to a 3-2 vote by the city council to keep the airport open.

Local area residents and members of the city council in Oceanside (CA) had an eye on closing the airport since last fall. ASN volunteer, Art Sternberg alerted AOPA to the Oceanside issue and the Association immediately contacted the the Mayor. "With airports facing more restriction and outright closures everyday, this victory clearly shows what a committed community group of pilots can accomplish, particularly when they work in coordination with the national organization" said Anne Esposito, Vice President of Airports.
