Virgin Australia Pilot Injured By Jet Blast

Was Blown From Staircase During Preflight Inspection

A pilot for Virgin Australia was blown from an aluminum ladder while conducting the preflight inspection of his 737 at Brisbane International Airport by the jet blast from a Qantas flight taxiing out for a departure to Sydney.

The pilot was reportedly seriously injured by the blast and the fall. The Brisbane Times reports that he suffered both a broken arm and leg when the jet blast pushed over the stairs he was standing on to inspect the plane.

Virgin Australia says its plane was parked where it was supposed to be, and Qantas says their airplanes was operating normally at the time of the incident. Neither will say anything was  out of the ordinary.
