Houston Executive Airport To Host Inaugural Fly-In March 31

And Yeah, Y'All, There WILL Be Barbecue

Aero-News has learned the gang behind the newly-opened Houston Executive Airport (78T) will host the field's inaugural Barbecue Fly-In Saturday, March 31. Area pilots and business travelers are invited to the free event scheduled from 11 am to 5 pm at Houston Executive Airport, located west of the Houston metroplex in Brookshire, TX.

Visitors will enjoy a complimentary barbecue lunch and airport staff will provide tours of the new business aviation center.

As Aero-News reported, after more than two years of planning and construction, Houston Executive Airport opened for business in January 2007. Airport Executive Director, Andrew D. Perry, A.A.E., said the airport's convenient location along the energy corridor, and close proximity to Houston makes it highly desirable for business travelers.

"We are delighted to welcome area pilots to Houston Executive Airport," said Perry. "We established this airport to meet the growing needs of business travelers to Houston and we look forward to establishing HEA as a first-class aviation center -- not only meeting their needs, but also exceeding them."

Known as South Waller County Airport in its planning stages, Houston Executive Airport caters to both business and general aviation aircraft. The airport has long-range plans to add another 2,000 feet to the airport's current 5,050-foot, lighted, PAPI-equipped runway, to accommodate larger aircraft.
