NBAA's CAM Program Approved For VA Benefits

Veterans Can Apply For Reimbursement Of Examination Costs

The NBAA's Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) program has been approved as a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) License and Certification site. Veterans who have tested to become CAMs since Sept. 30, 2014, may apply for GI Bill education benefits, and receive reimbursement of the CAM examination fee.

CAM testing is now offered year round at various computer-based testing centers throughout the country. The CAM exam registration fee is $975 for NBAA Members and $1,250 for non-members, and the full fee is eligible for reimbursement, as is the cost of retaking the exam, if necessary.

Business aviation has long been a chosen career path for veterans with military aviation experience, and the CAM credential can be an objective measurement of a successful transition into business aviation, and demonstrates to current and potential employers that certified individuals are prepared to be industry leaders.

"The ethic of excellence and hard work that is espoused in the military is in keeping with the standard of excellence that is demanded of Certified Aviation Managers," said retired Lt. Col., USAF Jay Evans, NBAA director, professional development. "The CAM program's approval to receive VA benefits is a win-win situation: more veterans will be able to enter the program and expand their career opportunities, and the business aviation industry will benefit from the work and experience of these dedicated individuals."

CAM candidates can also receive financial support in earning their credential by applying for the Donald A. Baldwin Sr. Business Aviation Management Scholarship or the Certified Aviation Manager Scholarship, both of which cover the cost of the CAM application, the CAM Study Guide and the CAM exam registration fee. The Certified Aviation Manager Scholarship also provides funding opportunities for current CAMs seeking to renew their credential, which must be done every three years.
