CNN Offers Apology For Trump Plane-Crash 'Joke'

Producer Make Offhanded Remark While Waiting For Live Report

When an off-camera producer made a joke about President-elect Donald Trump's plane crashing, she didn't realize she was being recorded. But she was, and the video was posted to YouTube by FTVLive's Scott Jones.

It quickly went viral.

In the video, the producer, who was not identified, was going over procedures she would use with correspondent Suzanne Malveaux during a live report. Malveaux said Trump's plane would be landing soon.

But while going over hand signals she would use during the report, she said "That means his plane's crashed. No, I'm kidding."

That was on Thursday. On Friday, CNN issues a apology for the producer's behavior. “An unfortunate and inappropriate remark was made by one of our producers off camera yesterday. We have apologized to the Trump transition team, and the producer has been disciplined,” the network said.

Meanwhile, the video has been viewed more than 2.3 million times, according to a report from Accuracy in Media.
