Brazilian Federales Receive Duo of Embraer E175s

New Jets Join Previous Embraer ERJs in Public Service

The Brazilian Federales received an addition to their private air force in a ceremony held in Brasília to celebrate the arrival of two new E175 jets. The first, formerly a United Kingdom aircraft, underwent a series of adjustments and updates at Embraer adjunct OGMA in Portugal to update it to Brazilian operational requirements. Once complete, it was given a suitable paint scheme for its life in service, where it will serve as a multi-function runabout for agency personnel in the expansive territory under their jurisdiction.

The relationship between Embraer and the Federal Police Service began with the selection of 2 ERJ 145 jets in 2006, both still soldiering on faithfully. The aircraft's entry into duty is an exciting event, if the atmosphere at the handover was any indication. “The introduction of the E175, a modern and efficient jet, will further expand the scope of our main missions, such as deploying agents to fight organized crime operations, transferring detainees, moving equipment and cargo,” said the Director-General of the Federal Police, Paulo Gustavo Maiurino.

“We are proud that the Federal Police has chosen to operate the E175 jet, which will be the largest aircraft in the country used for public security, adding capacity in the transport of passengers and cargo, in addition to increasing flight range, which expands the number of missions the Federal Police can perform,” said Jackson Schneider, President and CEO of Embraer Defense and Security.

The ERJ series has proven quite popular for similar missions, seating 75 passengers in comfort on trips over 2,000 nautical miles. Topping out at mach 0.75, the ERJ is a faithful companion for those needing a quick, spacious aircraft to get them wherever their immediate missions demand.
