EAA Eagle Flights Mentor Handbook Supports Two-Year-Old Program

Designed To Engage And Encourage Those Who Want To Fly

The EAA has created a new Mentor Handbook in support of its two-year-old Eagle Flights program, which is designed to welcome and encourage adults who want to discover flying. The Mentor Handbook is an essential element in the Eagle Flights program, which provides one-to-one experiences and follow-up for those who want to learn to fly. EAA members and chapters provide the initial flight experiences and continuing support as individuals begin to engage in aviation.

“There are many EAA members and other pilots who are dedicated to bringing more people into aviation, but don’t feel they individually have the know-how to supply regular support and motivation to those who are just beginning pursuit of their aviation dreams,” said Bret Steffen, EAA Director of Education. “This Mentor Handbook can help those experienced aviators turn their knowledge into the wisdom that will help those new in the aviation community.”

The Eagle Flights Mentor Handbook is made possible by continuing support from Sennheiser, which provides financial resources as well as dedicated outreach assistance to EAA. The commitment complements Sennheiser’s “Live Your Dream” program first introduced in 2011, which is designed to motivate and assist people with a passion for flying by helping to remove obstacles and allowing them to take a first step on a journey toward becoming a pilot.

The Mentor Handbook will be available during EAA AirVenture at the Pathways Pavilion on EAA Square, or afterward by requesting copies at eagleflights@eaa.org. EAA Eagle Flights builds on the success of the organization’s Young Eagles program for young people, which has flown more than 1.8 million youth since 1992 and inspired thousands of them to pursue aviation dreams. EAA Eagle Flights adds an important mentoring aspect for adults as they seek to actively engage in aviation.
