Waterproof SAR Radio System Made Compatible With NVG

Responds To Increased Use Of NVG In Civilian Helicopters

An NVG compatible version of the Polycon Wireless Intercom Extension System has been introduced by Becker Avionics and its sales an marketing partner Axnes Aviation AS. This is in response to the SAR market upgrading to NVG Compatible modern Helicopter platforms and the increasing use of NVG systems in civil rotorcraft to increase operational safety.

The product upgrade includes NVG compatible LED indicator lamps and NVG Filters over the unit display windows on both the aircraft installed Base Station and the MP20 hand-held Transceiver. The Dual-Band MP20 Transceiver is also available in an NVG Compatible version. All the NVG Compatible units have been extensively tested and are in compliance with MIL-STD-3009 NVIS Radiance levels for Class B compatibility. The NVG compatible version of the Polycon system is available as a 'special order' request-the good news is, there is no increase in price for the NVG version. Existing units can be upgraded to NVG compatibility on request, usually when the units are in for their planned maintenance service or as a repair. This is a chargeable upgrade.

The Polycon system provides the capability to have aircraft intercom communications between crewmembers in and away from the aircraft. For example, during equipment and passenger loading operations. The system eliminates communication restrictions by providing seamless hands-free wireless communications to all crewmembers in order to perform safe and effective cargo loading, aircraft maintenance, engine runs, refueling/defueling, pre- and post fight checks, and other external mission requirements like hoist and sling-load operations.

"The Polycon system provides effective, long-range wireless communication capability for aircrew members in and away from the aircraft," Brett Gardner, Director of Sales and Marketing for Becker Avionics. "The addition of NVG compatibility enhances the product's value and capability for customers that need it most; from airborne law enforcement and EMS, to military applications."

The Polycon wireless intercom system provides hands-free, semi-duplex communication, which allows an unlimited number of users on a single channel. The product was developed to meet rigorous demands of military and civil aircraft missions, operating in extreme conditions. Its rugged construction with long-range capability and semi-duplex communication integrates the external operating crew as a component of the aircraft intercom system and provides increased situational awareness and safety.
