GateOne Expands FBO Operations

Fourth GateOne Location to Open on Wyoming’s GCC

A member of the Avfuel Network, GateOne offers pilots and aircraft operators competitive prices through Avfuel contract fuel and AVTRIP rewards.

The company offers FBO services, charter operations, flight instruction, pilot supplies, aircraft rental, on-site catering, and aircraft maintenance services at facilities on Utah’s Cedar City Regional Airport (CDC); San Antonio, Texas’s Stinson Municipal Airport (SFF); and Arizona’s Chandler Municipal Airport (CHD).

On 20 April 2023, GateOne announced it had acquired the FBO operation at Gillette, Wyoming’s Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport (GCC). The location is the fourth for the company and its first in the Cowboy State.

The acquisition came via a Request For Proposal (RFP) process initiated following the 2022 completion of the airport’s new $3.3-million general aviation terminal. Six FBO operators applied for the GCC contract. GateOne was chosen.

GateOne CEO Thomas Mathew stated: “We are thrilled to help move the airport forward in this beautiful facility and honored to be its inaugural FBO.”

The 5,500-square-foot, mountain-contemporary terminal features a stacked-stone exterior with natural wood, expansive windows, and vaulted ceilings throughout.

The location will offer full FBO amenities, including a crew and passenger lounge, flight planning area, crew rest facility, and a fully-equipped conference room with seating for 12. In addition, GateOne GCC will offer aircraft maintenance, deicing service, aircraft tie-downs, and 29,772-square-feet of hangar space—room enough to accommodate a Gulfstream.

Mr. Matthew added: “We plan to offer maintenance services for aircraft from single engines to turboprops and possibly jets. We’ll also look at the needs of the local and transient communities and see if we need to build more hangars to attract both customer segments.”

Anticipating the latter will facilitate aerial surveys for the oil and gas industry and U.S. Department of Wildlife, Mr. Mathew plans to add a flight school and a small charter operation at the GCC location.

Situated in northeast Wyoming some five-miles northwest of Gillette, GateOne GCC is surrounded by breathtaking natural vistas, including Big Horn National Forest, Thunder Basin Grassland, and Devil’s Tower National Monument—the 5,112-foot-tall igneous laccolith popularized by Steven Spielberg’s 1977 box office smash, Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The airport’s rural setting facilitates ease of arrival and departure; as does its ILS-served, 7,500-foot primary runway.

Speaking to the subject of his company’s affiliation with GateOne, Avfuel vice-president of sales Mark Haynes set forth: “Avfuel has a long relationship with GateOne and we’re excited for Wyoming traffic to experience the high level of service the company has to offer at its newest Avfuel-branded location. We congratulate the GateOne team on its newest acquisition, and thank its leadership for putting its trust in Avfuel.”

GateOne GCC will open for business on 01 July 2023.
