Crying Baby Prompts Man To Activate Airliner Emergency Slide

Said He Wanted To Give A Woman And Her Child A Faster Exit From The Plane

We've all heard of the movie "Throw Mama From The Train" ... and at least the man involved in this incident was kind enough to take the action while the aircraft was still on the ground. It seems that a man seated next to a woman and her crying baby on a Vietnamese airline flight politely opened one of the plane's emergency exits and activated the evacuation slide ... he said so that the pair could get off the plane faster.

A story appearing in USA Today reports that, according to the Associated Press, the woman had asked for help in quickly exiting the plane as her child was screaming at the top of its lungs. The man, identified as Le Van Thuan, told the local authorities that he was simply trying to fulfill the woman's request for a quick exit from the plane.

While neither the man or the woman actually used the evacuation slide, the man will feel the consequences of his actions. He reportedly will face a $950 fine for his act, and it was not clear whether the unnamed airline would be able to pass along the $10,000 cost of replacing the slide.
