The Leonardo Launches First Crowdfunding Campaign

The Effort Will Support The Opening Of Their First, Original Exhibit, Entitled FLIGHT

The Leonardo has announced the launch of its first crowdfunding campaign in support of their new, completely original exhibit, FLIGHT. The exhibit, which opens August 2016, marks the first time The Leonardo is building an original exhibit of this scale, wholly unique to Utah.

The exhibit is a completely immersive experience into the world and ecosystem of flight. At the heart of the exhibit will be a fully restored C-131 aircraft which will hang from the ceiling of the museum and clear the walls on either side of the exhibit hall by a mere six inches.

Commissioned in the 1950's, this aircraft has flown combat missions and was left abandoned in the Arizona desert before The Leonardo decided to make it the centerpiece of this newest exhibit.  As a result, visitors will be encouraged to sit in the pilot seat, tinker with buttons, play with levers, poke around inside the fuselage, climb on the wings and take part in hyper-realistic flight simulations.

"We are excited to have the public play such an important role in the creation of FLIGHT," said Katie Smith, Director of Strategic Partnerships for The Leonardo. "This exhibit was built in conjunction with the leaders of our community and tells a unique Utah story.  Through this campaign, we look forward to finishing this exhibit with our community at large – so everyone has a chance to be a part of this major milestone at The Leonardo."

The Leonardo has created a Generosity page and is asking for donations from the public starting at just $5.  There are multiple levels of donation, each offering different rewards and exclusive benefits for donors.
