AeroSports Update: Falco Kit Producer Closes Its Doors

Sequoia Aircraft Corporation Is Setting Up A System To Support Builders And Owners Of The Falco F8L

The economy and the passage of time have conspired to force the Sequoia Aircraft Corporation, maker of Falco plans, kits and components, to close their doors. The 60-year-old F8L Falco is a classic homebuilt design loved for its aerodynamics and artful appeal.

Owners Susan Arruda and Ronny Joyner said their first priority has been to contact existing builders and to make sure they have everything they need to finish their projects. They are working on setting up a cottage industry for the Falco that will operate when they no longer offer Falco parts and kits.

Craig Gunder of Gunder Restoration and Design, will offer fabricated components. All of the jigs, fixtures, tooling and stampings for welded Falco components have been turned over to Gunder.

Fred Jiran of Composite Developments will offer composite components, such as the cowling, seats, wing fairings, etc. Fred has been making the Falco composite parts all along.

Jeff and Becky Rogers have been operating Airplane Plastics and making the Falco windshield, canopy and wing tip lenses, and they will continue to offer these acrylic parts.

Things are in the process of being set up and information can be found through the ‘Skunkworks’ link on the Sequoia Aircraft website. This website will continue on and will be publishing more drawings and working to support the Falco.
