JetBlue Names Ian Deason Vice President, Airports

COO Maruster: 'We Are Redesigning The Airport Experience'

JetBlue Airways has named Ian Deason Vice President, Airports.  In this role, Deason will be responsible for all airport-related operations and functions for JetBlue's network of 85 cities in 14 countries throughout the Americas. He will report to JetBlue's Chief Operating Officer, Rob Maruster.

"We are redesigning the airport experience, to make it friendlier for our customers and more efficient for our airline," Maruster said. "I can think of no better person to lead our great Airports team into the future than Ian. He brings a unique combination of experience, energy and enthusiasm to the role, and I know JetBlue, our customers, and our crewmembers will all benefit from his leadership."

As Vice President, Airports, Deason will lead a team of 6,000 crewmembers and business partners throughout the Americas that make up JetBlue's airport and ground operations, airport programs, deicing, provisioning, and system ground service equipment.

"My goal is to deliver JetBlue's mission, Inspiring Humanity, through every element of the ground experience," Deason said. "I know my colleagues throughout the Airports team are excited for what the future brings, and to make the JetBlue experience even better. It's truly a privilege to serve them in this role."

Deason joined JetBlue in 2006 as Chief of Staff to the CEO and COO, transitioning to the Commercial team as JetBlue's first director of airline partnerships, where he developed the strategy that became JetBlue's "open architecture" philosophy of interline and codeshare partnerships.  In 2010, Deason moved to Boston to oversee JetBlue's growth from 60 daily departures to today's 100+ flights as Boston's largest airline.  Growth in Boston continues with the recently announced nonstop service to Detroit.  Between earning his Bachelors of Arts in Economics from Northwestern University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, Deason served as Senior Advisor to the House Small Business Committee in Washington, D.C. He, his wife Jennifer and their two children currently reside in Boston.
