Soldier Held After Inflight Disturbance

Rammed Cockpit Door On Delta Flight

Police in Tampa, FL took a US Army soldier into custody Thursday night, after the Iraq War veteran allegedly ran down the aisle onboard Delta Air Lines flight 1850 from Laguardia to Tampa, and then rammed the cockpit door.

As of Friday, Neftali Alexander Liamendez was still in custody -- despite having no charges filed against him. Florida law allows a person to be held without charges if they are considered to be a threat to themselves, or others.

That may be the case, as Liamendez's brother told authorities the soldier "has some mental problems related to his Army service," Tampa International Airport spokeswoman Brenda Geoghagan told CBS News.

Liamendez did not have any weapons, Geoghagan added, and authorities do not believe he meant to harm anyone on the flight.
