Lighter Than Air Systems Equipment To Be Utilized In Training And Evaluation Exercises
Lighter Than Air Systems (LTAS), a wholly owned subsidiary of World Surveillance Group Inc. has received an order from prime defense contractor A-T Solutions, Inc. for sustainment equipment related to its "Blimp in a Box" aerostat systems ("BiB"). The BiB related components are to be delivered and installed in staged shipments beginning immediately and to be completed within 30 days. The sustainment equipment will be used to support the training and evaluation exercises taking place at the U.S. Army Garrison in Fort Polk, LA.
The two LTAS BiB aerostat systems currently in use at the Army's base at Fort Polk were delivered earlier this year under a contract award from the United States Department of Defense which included on-location support, installation and training for the BiB systems. The BiBs are intended to provide semi-persistent, mobile intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance ("ISR") at the platoon level. Each BiB system can provide low cost, mobile ISR for days, weeks or months with the aerostat system only requiring a rapid 15 minute recovery and re-launch helium top-off every 24-36 hours.
"We are excited by our growing relationship with the Army and this order for sustainment equipment for the BiBs evidences their continued use of and training on these remarkable systems," said WSGI President and CEO, Glenn D. Estrella. "We intend to give the Army our full support as our BiBs are placed through vigorous training exercises and evaluations. We look forward to the opportunity to provide the DoD with a low cost, reliable ISR capability to support the warfighter."
