CAF Aviation Museum Site Of Super Bowl Pre-Game Party

Lombardi Trophy Shares Floor With B-17 "Sentimental Journey"

Roger Goddell, commissioner of the National Football League, took some time away Friday evening from preparations for Super Bowl XLII to host a pre-game party at the Commemorative Air Force Aviation Museum, located at Falcon Field airport in Mesa, AZ.

Home of the flying WWII B-17 bomber "Sentimental Journey", CAF's museum was transformed for the occasion in a gigantic night club with popular swing bands performing for the audience.

Members of the Arizona Wing CAF dedicated the static display of Sentimental Journey to the memory of Tom Landry, the NFL player turned coach who was also a B-17 co-pilot... surviving 30 missions and a crash landing during World War II.

The event was also notable for another special "guest." The highly guarded Vince Lombardi trophy is valued at $25,000. It depicts a regulation football made entirely of sterling silver.

The trophy will be presented Sunday to the owner of the winning team of Super Bowl XLII... either the New York Giants, or New England Patriots.
