Aero-TV: P&W's PT-6 Family - Maintaining Competitiveness

Pratt & Whitney’s Powerful PT-6 Turboprop Engines…

Aero-News Correspondent, Kathryn Creedy, took the opportunity while at the Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) held in November 2016 to meet with Nick Kanellias, who is the Senior Director of General Aviation Programs at Pratt and Whitney Canada. Creedy asked the question about their PT-6 turboprop engine and its competitiveness in the industry.

To say that Kanellias was prepared to answer that question is an understatement. He points out that the PT-6 is actually an entire line of engines based on similar technology but designed for entirely different purposes with power ratings that run a broad range, up to 2000 horsepower. The neat thing about this video is that as Kanellias talks about the product line our video follows along by showing you the various cutaway engine models that were on display.

He also talks about product support and their ‘Especially for you PT-6 Program’, that they refer to as the ESP plan. For those of you that don’t know much about the PT-6 six line of engines, you’ll find this video fascinating. On the other hand, if you’re no stranger to the PT-6 you’ll be impressed with what you see and hear.
