Atlantic Aviation Offsets Carbon Footprint of Customers for Conference
Atlantic Aviation has confirmed its receipt of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) at its Las Vegas Facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. Making up about 15% of the total fuel volumes expected to be sold throughout the expo, sales are hoped to offset the carbon footprint for customers using Atlantic services during NBAA-BACE.
“The effective replacement of traditional JET-A with this delivery of SAF represents another step forward in our commitment to renewable energy and allows our customers to actively participate in the reduction of carbon emissions without shouldering the cost” Said Jay Hamby, Senior vice president of Atlantic Aviation.
Ongoing environmental programs aimed at boosting the company’s increasingly important ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) score have been well received. Increasing investment in LED technology for lighting, electric ground support equipment, have been carried out throughout the company, and thorough reductions in plastic and paper consumables have limited waste creation.
The rollout of sustainable fuel has been steadily increasing its proportion of overall Atlantic Aviation fuel sold, once expected to be 8
% of their worldwide sales in 2021. Other locations, supply chains permitting, operate their ground equipment with renewable diesel.
Last March, when Atlantic’s LAX location underwent a similar program, they expected to reduce carbon emissions by 10.8 million pounds over the year, about 1,000 automobiles worth. World Fuel Services Senior VP Steve Dryzmalla believed that “the aviation industry as a whole would be able to reach its goal of halving carbon emissions by 2050”.
