Hawker Beechcraft Continues Longstanding Support Of CAN

Airframe Manufacturer Provides Contributions, Flights For Cancer Patients

As part of the unveiling of Hawker Beechcraft Corporation's (HBC) new global demonstrator fleet this week at the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE), the company Wednesday reiterated its support of the Corporate Angel Network (CAN). Each aircraft in the new demonstrator fleet proudly displays the CAN logo signifying the company's commitment to this valuable organization, which assists cancer patients in finding empty seats on corporate aircraft to meet their medical transportation needs.

"If we can provide assistance and alleviate a major concern and expense for a cancer patient that must travel a significant distance for care, we are anxious to do it," said Bob Blouin, HBC vice president, Flight Operations. "This is one of the great things the business aviation community does on a routine basis, and CAN plays a wonderful coordination role to make it happen."

Providing regular reports on the company's planned flight activity is just one of the ways HBC continues to expand its long-standing relationship with CAN. In addition, HBC's current Chairman & CEO Bill Boisture, along with its former CEO Jim Schuster, have both been active members of the CAN Board of Directors, while HBC and its predecessor companies have donated more than $250,000 to the organization since 1993.

CAN arranges free flights to treatment for cancer patients using empty seats on business aircraft. Since its founding 29 years ago, CAN has grown to include more than 500 participating corporations and teams of part-time volunteers who work with patients, physicians, corporate flight departments and leading treatment centers to coordinate medical travel needs of cancer patients with the scheduled flight activity of participating corporations. To date, CAN has arranged more than 31,000 flights and currently provides approximately 250 patient flights a month. CAN has received numerous awards, including The Volunteer Action Award, the highest volunteer award from the President of the United States, in recognition of its service to cancer patients.
