AFA Looks Forward To Continuing To Advance Profession

Union Hails The Re-Election Of President Obama

The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) says its focus will remain on improving the future of the profession in a statement released following the re-election of President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.

"Under President Obama's first four years in office, we made great strides and secured many improvements for the tens of thousands of flight attendants across the country," the statement said. "We look forward to another four years of working with the Obama administration on ensuring that our nation's aviation system remains the best in the world. Alongside appointments to the U.S. Department of Transportation and its Federal Aviation Administration, the National Mediation Board, the Department of Homeland Security and the National Transportation Safety Board, we will continue to enhance the safety of the traveling public. Additionally, we will continue to press for the ability of workers to have a voice through union representation.

"As we move forward on improving the future for flight attendants and working families, it is imperative that the Lame Duck Session of Congress continues to move us forward as a nation, not back. We must continue to remain focused on rebuilding our economy, for ourselves and tomorrow's generation. We simply cannot allow social programs to be taken to the chopping block or increased tax cuts for the wealthiest two percent of Americans.

"While this election season was tough, our democratic process helps us to identify our differences as well as our common ground. This is a critical time to hold our elected officials accountable for actively defending working families. We look forward to working with our newly-elected representatives on Capitol Hill and continuing our important work for flight attendants."

The Association is the world's largest flight attendant union.
