Hamilton Sundstrand has
been selected to supply major systems for the Boeing P-8A
Multi-mission Maritime Aircraft (MMA).
Hamilton Sundstrand will supply the electric power generating
system and power distribution systems. Together, these systems
provide main power generation, primary and secondary power
distribution and control of several utility systems aboard the
aircraft. These systems will provide Boeing and its U.S. Navy
customer the level of increased electric power required for the
P-8A MMA mission, as well as a scalable utility management
capability to support current and future mission equipment
needs.
Hamilton Sundstrand will also supply the cooling system, which
provides thermal management and control of the mission equipment
aboard the aircraft. The cooling system design and integrated
configuration employ multiple technologies that will enable
increased cooling capacity as the P-8A MMA mission expands in the
future.
"We are proud that Boeing has selected Hamilton Sundstrand for
these extensive contract awards for their P-8A program," said Tim
Morris, president of Hamilton Sundstrand Aerospace Power
Systems.
"These system wins reflect our ability to provide multiple
value-added system solutions to Boeing and to meet the performance
and reliability requirements of this advanced mission
aircraft."
These systems have a potential program value that may exceed
$300 million to Hamilton Sundstrand.
The P-8A MMA is a long-range anti-submarine warfare,
anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance, and
reconnaissance aircraft. It possesses an advanced mission system
for maximum interoperability in battle space. Capable of
broad-area, maritime, and littoral operations, the P-8A MMA is
expected to influence how the U.S. Navy's maritime patrol and
reconnaissance forces train, operate, and deploy.
