FAA and TSA To Address '09 NATA Air Charter Summit and FBO Leadership Conference

The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) 2009 Air Charter Summit (June 8-10) and 2009 FBO Leadership Conference (June 9-11) will both be held at the Westfields Marriott near Dulles International Airport and feature sessions led by top FAA and TSA officials.

John Sammon, TSA's assistant administrator, Transportation Sector Network Management addresses the latest general aviation security developments, including the Large Aircraft Security Program NPRM and "Operation Playbook" security screening protocol during the Air Charter Summit.

Douglas Hofsass, TSA's general manager, Commercial Aviation & Airports, covers the latest aviation security developments affecting ground service operation, including employee screening, ramp access, "Operation Playbook" security measures and a recent security directive requiring all employees with airport operations area access at commercial airports to be badged.

FAA leadership directly responsible for Part 135 oversight including Hooper Harris, acting director, Office of Investigation, Dennis Pratte, manager, Part 135 Air Carrier Operations Branch, and Don Arendt, manager, Flight Standards SMS Office will provide summit attendees updates on current initiatives such as operational control, actions to publish the Part 135 ARC proposals and require safety management systems, flight and duty time requirements, performance assessments prior to landing, and more.

The FAA's Catherine M. Lang, acting associate administrator for Airports, shares how noise restrictions, minimum standards, overnight curfews, and many other general aviation and commercial airports issues will affect the FBO community.

"There is no better place for face-to-face discussions with government officials, issue experts and aviation industry leaders. NATA's 2009 Air Charter Summit and 2009 FBO Leadership Conference provide knowledge, connections and insight guaranteed to move your business forward," NATA President James K. Coyne (Pictured above) stated.

Each event offers its specific audience in-depth analysis of legislative and regulatory issues, an update on security initiatives, expert assessment of the near- and long-term prospects for aviation businesses, and guidance on urgent business tactics such as countering the negative public perception of general aviation.
