Embraer Confirms Eight E-Jet Purchases By Lufthansa

Additional Order Makes Lufthansa The Largest Fleet Of E-Jets In Continental Europe

Embraer and Deutsche Lufthansa AG signed a contract for another eight new Embraer 195 jets, which will be operated within the Lufthansa Regional family serving national and European destinations. The total value of the deal, at list price, is $338 million, based on January 2010 economic conditions.

"Supported by Germany's economy recovery, Lufthansa demand is strongly growing this year, and is being sustained by a significant upturn in yields," said Paulo Cesar de Souza e Silva, Embraer Executive Vice President, Airline Market. "It's good to see that strength reflected in Lufthansa's confidence to grow its E-Jets fleet. This is an excellent showcase for the flexibility, performance capabilities and passenger comfort of the E-Jets family, particularly in the highly demanding German and Eastern European markets."

The Lufthansa Group had previously ordered a mixed fleet of 30 Embraer190s and Embraer195s for its regional fleet, in June 2007, most of which are already in service. Deliveries of the additional eight aircraft are scheduled to commence in the first half of 2012.

"With the E190s and the E195s, Embraer offers highly modern, more eco efficient aircraft that increase cost efficiency while at the same time offering great benefits to passengers. Especially with European traffic becoming increasingly competitive, those are the qualities we are looking for, in order to maintain a modern and highly efficient fleet at Lufthansa Regional," said Nico Buchholz, Executive Vice President, Lufthansa Group, Fleet Management. "Our passengers highly value the aircraft's comfort. The cabin configuration offers them even more personal living space and the modern cabin interior increases onboard comfort."

Embraer E-Jets are already in service with Lufthansa Regional partner carriers Augsburg Airways, Air Dolomiti and CityLine. Upon delivery of the eight Embraer 195s, 38 E-Jets will be flying for Lufthansa Regional, making it the operating entity with the largest fleet of E-Jets in continental Europe.
