NATA CEO Testifies Before House Aviation Subcommittee

Securing the Future of General Aviation

Founded in 1940 to represent the interests of the general aviation business community before the U.S. Congress and federal, state, and local government agencies, the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) comprises nearly 2,300 aviation businesses offering a broad range of services to the general aviation and airline industries as well as the U.S. military.

In addition to advocating for the aviation sector, NATA directly serves the traveling public by providing aircraft fuel; on-demand air-charter; aircraft rental, storage, and flight training; aircraft maintenance, parts sales, and line support; as well as business aircraft or fractional ownership fleet management.

On 09 March 2023, NATA president and CEO Curt Castagna testified before the House Aviation Subcommittee during the legislative body’s hearing on FAA Reauthorization, dubbed: Securing the Future of General Aviation.

Castagna’s testimony focused on means by which to foster innovation, modernize infrastructure, increase sustainability, prioritize safety, strengthen the aviation workforce, and increase efficiency while building continually upon the past successes of business aviation.

Following oral testimony before the House Aviation Subcommittee, attending panelists engaged in a substantive discussion with subcommittee members. Castagna, for his own part, fielded lawmakers’ questions pertaining to a wide range of topics, including FAA regulatory reform, preparation for advanced air mobility deployment, common sense solutions by which to accelerate the industry’s safe transition to unleaded fuels, recruiting a qualified aviation workforce, and broadening the general aviation industry’s talent pipeline.
