Able Flight Creates New Career Training Scholarship

Intended To Help People With Disabilities Earn LSA Repairman Certificate

Able Flight has introduced a new Career Training scholarship making it possible for a person with a physical disability to earn an FAA-issued Repairman Certificate for Light Sport Aircraft in only three weeks. The certificate can be used to obtain work at an existing maintenance facility, or can help the graduate become an entrepreneur and create their own new business. With the number of approved Light Sport Aircraft models now over one hundred, demand is growing for qualified maintenance personnel.

"From the time Able Flight was founded, we've been looking for opportunities to help people with disabilities find a career in aviation, a career that will allow them to become self-sufficient", said Charles Stites, Executive Director. "Our new Career Training Scholarship is an outstanding way to make that possible. With a Repairman Certificate (LSA) with a Maintenance rating, a person can have a very rewarding career working with Light Sport Aircraft."

Providing the training will be Rainbow Aviation of Corning, California which offers their 120 Hour Repairman Course several times a year. As with all Able Flight full scholarships, the award covers training, travel and lodging and testing fees.  The application form is available on the "Scholarships" page of the Able Flight website.
