EgyptAir Orders Six Embraer 170s For Subsidiary

Options On Six More; First Delivery In April '07

Embraer announced Monday EgyptAir Holding Company has placed a firm order for six Embraer 170s, with options for another six aircraft of the same type. Delivery of the first aircraft is scheduled for April 2007, when EgyptAir will also celebrate its 75th anniversary.

The Embraer 170 will operate under EgyptAir's newly created subsidiary, EgyptAir Express, and the aircraft will be the launch airliner in EgyptAir Express' newest fleet.

The aircraft will be configured in a single class layout, with seating for 76 passengers.

"We particularly take pride in selecting the product that would best serve our needs. Indeed, following a very technical assessment, the Embraer 170 came out as the right aircraft to help launch our new subsidiary, EgyptAir Express," said Eng. Atef Abdul Hamid, Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, who commented on the new acquisition. "We consider Embraer a true winner, as the Embraer 170 perfectly responds to the new concept we are implementing within our continuing growing market."

"The Embraer 170 will offer the highest level of comfort to our passengers when we start our operations in April 2007. And this is exactly what we want to achieve with EgyptAir Express: a high profile domestic and regional airline, which will not only serve, but will exceed our customer's expectations," said Mohamed Hassan, Chairman of EgyptAir Express.

The Embraer 170's operations intend to serve primary and secondary destinations and integrate them within the Egyptian domestic and regional market.

"Being one of the pioneering airlines in the world, EgyptAir truly honors us with this order," said Frederico Fleury Curado, Embraer Executive Vice-President, Airline Market. "Above all, the airline's rigorous technical and operation evaluation to select the Embraer 170 makes the choice even more satisfying for Embraer."
