UAVs Stolen In Las Vegas Burglary

Value Of The Aircraft Placed At $10,000

The largest seller of small UAVs in Las Vegas was broken into last week, and thieves made off with $10,000 worth of aircraft, according to local police.

Television Station KVVU reports that the thief or thieves broke through a fortified plate glass store-front window at Drones Plus. Co-owner Mike Thorpe told the station that the effort the thieves made to get at the aircraft is a testament to their popularity.

Thorpe said the alarm system at the store did not activate when the window was broken, but the thieves were recorded by a surveillance camera, and there was reportedly blood left at the scene of the break-in. Thorpe said he experienced a similar alarm malfunction when aircraft were stolen from his warehouse a month ago.

The video shows a person smashing through the window of the store, then tossing multiple aircraft in boxes back out through the window, apparently into some kind of vehicle.

Based on the evidence, Thorpe says he's "pretty confident" those responsible will be caught.
