Redbird To Provide $1 Avgas For SAFE PPP

Company Ended Public Program Last Week

Redbird Skyport announced this week that $1 per gallon avgas will still be available to participants in the Society of Aviation Flight Educator’s Pilot Proficiency Project (PPP) in San Marcos, Texas, a move praised by SAFE Executive Director Doug Stewart.

"The fact that Redbird is carrying through proves their dedication to aviation safety, and we appreciate it,” said Stewart. “Redbird is a standup partner business that honestly believes in helping pilots stay proficient.”  The company chose to end their extraordinary $1 per gallon avgas public offer earlier this month when they were overwhelmed by demand.

SAFE’s October 26-27 PPP in San Marcos is the first-ever GA proficiency project to include time in Redbird’s advanced motion flight simulators. The simulators will run from morning till night both days to accommodate all participants. Seminars available will include Angle of Attack Awareness by Rich Stowell, internationally known as ‘The Spin Doctor’; Tailwheel Tips and Tricks with Stowell and SAFE Executive Director Doug Stewart; iPad Best Practices for Flight Planning with Kay Greenfield and a three hour Single Pilot IFR seminar with Stewart.

Other sponsors of SAFE’s October PPP are Starr Aviation, which is offering participants Accident Forgiveness on Starr Aviation insurance, and Sennheiser aviation. Qualifying participants will be eligible for flight and knowledge credits in the FAA WINGS program.

Discounted registration for the SAFE San Marcos PPP ends October 23.
