Metal or Composite, Titan//ScaleWings Has You Covered!
For the first time ever, ScaleWings Aircraft out of Germany is presenting their highly anticipated full-carbon P-51 Mustang replica at Oshkosh 2022.
On Monday, 25 July, visitors even saw the ScaleWings SW-51 Mustang live in flight action during a show performance at 5pm local time.
The ScaleWings SW-51 Mustang is a true-to-scale replica of the legendary P-51, an unprecedented execution of details made entirely from carbon-composite materials. When it is taxiing or flying in the air, the aircraft cannot be distinguished from the Original P-51. The most astonishing fact, however, is found when you get up real close to it: more than 100,000 details such as rivets and other textures of the Original have been handmade into all manufacturing lamination molds, leaving 3D imprints on all aircraft skins.
The aircraft is designed for load factors of +6 / -4g, and is available as an Experimantal Amateur Build or Experimental Exhibition. Equipped with Rotax 915iS Turbo engine, the aircraft shows a maximum continuous horizontal speed of 185 Knots TAS at 15,000 feet.
In the US, ScaleWings is cooperating with TITAN AIRCRAFT in Austinburg, Ohio, who provide a wide range of buider assistance and various engine type installations. Together with TITAN, ScaleWings held a press conference on Monday, 25 July, at 2pm.
