DA42 MPP Successfully Flies Mission Over Lower Austria

Airborne Sensing Platform Deployed To Monitor Fire

On the morning of the November 5, forest rangers detected a fire at an altitude of about 800m on the steep forest slopes of the Schneeberg Mountain Range in Lower Austria.

The volunteer fire brigade from Wiener Neustadt's southern base group (Basisgruppe Süd) and the specially requested airborne fire service successfully brought the fire under control, despite the difficult terrain, known for its poor visibility.

Given the non-visible sources of fire, the fire fighters had to expect new blazes flaring up at any time. Crews enlisted the help of the DA42 Multi-Purpose Platform, equipped with infrared sensors, to map the area and detect any remaining blazes that went undetected by fire fighters.

After only two flights with the Diamond DA42 MPP the fire extinguishing result was verified and the ground crews withdrew from the operational area.
