NBAA Hints at New Big-Name Products at Show

NBAA isn't saying just what's up, but it wanted us to know (and spread the rumors): Expect Cessna and Raytheon Aircraft to be in the forefront among companies making major product announcements at the NBAA 56th Annual Meeting & Convention in October. Cessna, which at last year's Convention announced the Citation CJ3 and Mustang very light jet, said it will have another new product announcement, but wouldn't disclose whether it would be a turbine- or piston-powered aircraft. Some sources say Cessna may announce two new products.

Raytheon Aircraft, which currently is nearing certification of its super-midsize Hawker Horizon, also will announce a "significant" product upgrade. Speculation is that it might be a Premier II, a stretched version of the Premier I. Meanwhile, Raytheon Aircraft recently celebrated the completion of the Premier I's 100th composite fuselage. Raytheon had delivered 59 Premier Is by mid-August, 11 in the first half of this year with 38 more planned for shipment by year end.
